Au-delà de son titre, le film « Girl Power » ne revendique aucune idéologie, il renvoie à une attitude empreinte de liberté. Outre de mettre en lumière des figures féminines emblématiques du genre (de Nyc, à Sidney en passant par l’Afrique et jusqu’en Europe), ce documentaire rappelle qu’il est possible de faire ce que tu veux, peu importe qui tu sois. La production est réalisée et narrée par Sany. La graffeuse praguoise est aussi à l’origine du crew éponyme. Le film raconte son parcours d’artiste illégale, fatalement parsemé d’embûches ; six années riches en émotions et en rencontres, aussi bonnes que mauvaises.
Beyond its title, the film “Girl Power” does not claim any ideology, it refers to an attitude marked by freedom. In addition to highlighting emblematic female figures of the genre (from NYC, to Sidney via Africa and to Europe), this documentary reminds us that it is possible to do what you want, no matter who you are. . The production is directed and narrated by Sany. The graffiti artist from Prague is also at the origin of the eponymous crew. The film tells of his career as an illegal artist, inevitably strewn with pitfalls; six years rich in emotions and encounters, as good as they are bad.

"Mick la Rock"
Mick La Rock (Aileen Middel, Groningen, 1970) est l’une des premières graffeuses européennes et des plus connues. Inspirée par le style traditionnel de lettrage graffiti «New York School», elle a commencé à écrire son nom MICKEY en 1983. Conquérant les Pays-Bas dans les années 80, elle a étendu son terrain de jeu au niveau international dans les années 90 et 2000
Les graffeurs comme a.o. Quik, Blade, Lady Pink, Each, Dondi, Futura, Lee Quiñones l’ont invitée à venir à New York après leur rencontre lors de l’exposition «Coming from The Subway» au Groninger Museum en 1992.
Dans les années 90 à 2000, elle a travaillé et vécu à Amsterdam et à New York, où elle a collaboré à de grandes productions murales et est devenue une partie de la scène graffiti new-yorkaise.
Après avoir maîtrisé l'art et travaillé avec de nombreux autres graffeurs de renommée internationale, elle a commencé à chercher de nouveaux défis.
Elle est membre du City Curatorial de la municipalité d'Amsterdam (2019-présent). Pour le Musée d'Amsterdam, elle était la commissaire invitée de l'exposition «Graffiti. New York rencontre le barrage »(2015).
Elle a participé aux documentaires sur l’art du graffiti «Bomb It» (2006), «Girl Power Movie» (2015), «The Rise of Graffiti Writing» (2017).
Elle est fière d'être membre des crews: The Fantastic Partners, The Master Blasters, Clowns From Hell, Always Out Dancing et All Female Crew.
Mick La Rock (Aileen Middel, Groningen, 1970) is one of Europe’s first and most well known female graffiti artists.
Inspired by the traditional ‘New York School’ graffiti lettering style, she started writing her name MICKEY in 1983. Conquering The Netherlands in the 80’s, she extended her playground internationally in the 90’s and 2000’s.
Graffiti artists like a.o. Quik, Blade, Lady Pink, Each, Dondi, Futura, Lee Quiñones invited her to come to New York after they met at the exhibition ‘Coming from The Subway’ at the Groninger Museum in 1992.
During the 90’s - 00’s she worked and lived in both Amsterdam and New York, where she collaborated on big mural productions and became part of the New York graffiti scene.
After mastering the art, and working together with many other internationally known graffiti artists, she started to look for new challenges.
Mick La Rock graduated from the Hanzehogeschool Groningen and took classes at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy for Fine Arts, Amsterdam.
She is a member of the City Curatorial of the Municipality of Amsterdam (2019 - present).
For the Amsterdam Museum she was the guest curator for the exhibition “Graffiti. New York meets The Dam” (2015).
She featured in the graffiti art documentaries “Bomb It” (2006), ‘Girl Power Movie’ (2015), ‘The Rise of Graffiti Writing’ (2017).
She is a proud member of graffiti crews The Fantastic Partners, The Master Blasters, Clowns From Hell, Always Out Dancing and All Female Crew.
